The Space Explorer: Arts Walk Melt Down (literally, it melted)

The Space Explorer. It was sooooo good, and sooooo bad, all at the same time. I don't think I have ever spent so much time building then I did with this costumed character and I spent a bigger budget to create what I thought was important at the time. Perhaps I've been spending too much of time wondering around the West Edmonton Mall looking at store displays to realize what was practical and what was just fluff. Very heavy, inflexible fluff.
My goal was originality, I've been the "Copper Cowboy" for almost 8 years now, and I wanted (still do) a deviation of the work I've done in the past. I wanted a challenge, something...different. NBow before I get into the nitty gritty of the work (before warned: much of this page with contain content already posted to my blog front page) I'm going to show you what happened to my costume.

Here's what the pants looked before the Arts Walk ( before adding painted stars as well)

And after standing in the +30c heating for two days.
good grief.

The gesso I used really made those colours pop, what I didn't know what that under extreme heat and stress it would stick together and peel off. When I'm performing often times I hunker down for small children and that's when the above image took place. what you're seeing is the back side of the costume.

That's it for now, I'll post more details in the near future, other mishaps that occurred that weekend (clue: look out for seagulls when they fly over head)
